GPSRadar
is a Palm application which displays points-of-interest (POIs)
relative to your current position using GPS.
A comma separated value (CSV) list of up to
several thousand POIs can be converted on a desktop pc, from a
text file to a Palm PDB database. This is transferred to the PDA
and read at start-up by GPSRadar.
As you move around the nearest POIs are
displayed and you can zoom in or out. The application was
originally designed to be used as a speed camera warning device. A
warning sound is produced when a POI (camera) is within a set
radius and arc ahead of your current position. Features:
-
The
application is very simple and allows continuous hands-free
operation on a car dashboard mount.
-
In
addition it has a night mode, where the display can be set to
black with red features for night use.
-
The
display is zoomed in and out using the up/down buttons. It
could just as easily be used for geocaching as it will show
your position relative to the cache.
-
Garmin
iQue and Treo Smartphones are not currently supported.
-
Tungsten
T5 is not currently supported due to changes in screen size
reporting.
